BOTOX® Cosmetic
 BOTOX® Cosmetic, or botulinum toxin type A, is a protein commonly used to reduce or eliminate the appearance of facial wrinkles. It is injected under the skin into the area between the eyebrows, surrounding the eyes, and on the forehead to smooth crow's feet, vertical frown lines, and horizontal lines on the forehead. BOTOX® injections relax wrinkles and give the face a rejuvenated look by blocking nerve impulses and changing muscle pull. In order to insure safety and the best result, Botox treatments should be performed by a plastic surgeon with extensive knowledge of facial anatomy and aesthetics. Dr. Sternschein has 25 years experience in the use of Botox to achieve cosmetic benefit. Treatments are done in the office and usually take five minutes. In most patients the effects of the one treatment will last approximately six months. Patients love the results of this simple procedure.

FILLERS - Restylane®, Perlane®, Juvéderm™, Radiesse™
Fillers are designed to smooth wrinkles, sculpt lips, shape facial contours and correct indentations. Restylane®, Perlane®, Juvéderm™, and Radiesse™ are the most common fillers used in our office. They are synthetic substances that contain biologic natural materials found throughout your body. These fillers are extremely safe, effective, and predictable. The most common areas for treatment are the nasolabial folds (from the root of the nose to the angle of your mouth), the corners of the mouth, lip lines, "frown lines" (between the eyebrows), and under the eyes. They can also be used to enlarge the lips and/or increase lip protrusion. The results will last 3-12 months depending on the type of filler used and the area treated. Occasionally Dr. Sternschein will use other fillers not listed above. During your consultation he will discuss the pros and cons of each material and recommend the best filler for you.
When considering treatment with fillers, it is important to select a physician with extensive cosmetic experience, sophisticated aesthetic judgement and technical expertise. FILLERS - Fat Injections
 (Although this is not an office procedure, it is included here to complete your options with regard to fillers.)
It is possible for your surgeon to take your own fat and inject it into other areas of your body to fill in wrinkles and indentations. The most common areas for treatment are the nasolabial folds (from the root of the nose to the angle of your mouth), the corners of the mouth, and the lip, but any area of the body can be treated. Newer techniques have made fat injections more reliable. The results can last for years. Fat injections require sterile conditions so they are usually performed as an outpatient procedure in an operating room with a light anesthetic. Swelling and bruising will occur but resolve in 1-2 weeks.

Microdermabrasion
Microdermabrasion is a quick, easy procedure that improves mild sun damage, minor wrinkles and other superficial skin problems. A stream of tiny particles exfoliates the outer layer of skin and provides a fresh, glowing, younger appearance. Since the treatment is so gentle and pain free there is no need for anesthesia. Only a small amount of skin is removed, so sensitive areas such as the face, chest, neck, arms and hands can be treated. Results are comparable to a light chemical peel and should be immediately visible. Following the treatment there may be some redness for 1-2 hours or less. Make up can be applied immediately. Microdermabrasion is often performed in conjunction with other skin renewal procedures, such as laser treatment and chemical peels. Multiple treatments are recommended for full effect.
